Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of commercial motor vehicles with information regarding FMCSA vehicle component and inspection requirements.
Conduct routine maintenance and preventive care services.
Use specialized truck repair tools and equipment efficiently.
Ensure all repairs and inspections comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Part 393, 396 and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 108 and 121.
Keep accurate records of repairs and services performed.
Requirements:
Experience in diesel engine and truck repair with deployable knowledge of:
o Hydraulic, electrical, and air brake systems
o Fuel and exhaust systems
o Cab and body components
o Coupling Devices
o Tires, Steering and suspension systems,
o Frames and Axle beams on commercial motor vehicles and trailers.
Ability to use diagnostic tools and read schematics.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with FMCSA and DOT safety regulations (training available).
Understand the inspection criteria set forth in part 393 and Appendix A (formerly appendix G) of this subchapter and identify defective components.
Knowledgeable of and have mastered the methods, procedures, tools and equipment used when performing an inspection, diagnostics and repairs
Capable of performing an inspection and repairs by reason of experience, training, or both
Have a combination of training or experience totaling at least 3 years.
