Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.An exciting career opportunity is open with Caterpillar Resource Industries Group in ‘Wheeled Products Engineering - Performance and Controls Team’ to support Large Mining Truck product development.You will be responsible for supporting Performance and Controls development to ensure machine performance and control strategies meets customer requirements. You will work on and drive development of required machine level simulation models, develop and optimize control strategies, support requirements documentation and provide robust validation of machine performance and controls utilizing virtual simulations, bench testing and machine testing. You will work with lead performance and controls engineers to critically evaluate strategic concepts for future products, lead/mentor/coach junior performance and controls simulation engineers, and work with performance, controls and simulation communities across the organization.What you will do:
Support development of Performance and Controls for multiple NPI programs
Develop and guide junior simulation engineers to develop complex Dynasty (Caterpillar internal tool) and Simulink machine models to support multiple NPI programs.
Drive collaboration across the organization to develop various sub-system models that will be used in the full machine model (L6).
Plans various Performance and Controls simulation related activities for the NPI programs working with process partners across the organization. Provides time and budget estimates for the same.
Performs and leads complex simulations to evaluate various configurations and controls strategies and impact of the same on Cost/ton and TCO for key customer segments.
Performs and leads complex simulations to provide detailed requirements for sub-system development (Powertrain, Hydraulics, Engine Installation and Cooling, Structures, etc.).
Guides development of controls strategies/requirements to optimize the machine performance for various customer segments and operating conditions. Oversee development and validation plans of the same to ensure the highest quality control software development employing Virtual Product Development, Software in the Loop, and Hardware in the Loop processes.
Lead and support validation of machine performance at proving grounds and customer sites.
Participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Validation workshops for the machine NPI programs.
Initiate and support New Technology Introduction (NTI) programs that impact the products short and long-term strategies.
What Skills you will have:Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Performance and controls experience.
Caterpillar Dynasty tool expertise at Machine level (L6).
Machine, engine, powertrain or electronics system performance/integration experience.
Experience with controls systems and software development and use of Matlab, Simulink, etc.
Data analysis skills
