The Registered Radiologist Assistant reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.Responsibilities:Extends reach of on-site radiologists by performing advanced image-guided procedures, as privileged under direct radiologist supervision, including, but not limited to:Fluoroscopy proceduresEsophagrams, swallow studies, upper GI, small bowel studies and barium enemasArthrograms, lumbar punctures, myelograms, epidurals, tube replacements and exchanges, joint injections and aspirations, replacement/exchange of nephrostomy and abscess drainage cathetersBone marrow biopsies, thyroid biopsies, non-targeted liver biopsies, superficial mass biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, abscess grams, vascular access and extremity venogramsPlacement of non-tunneled venous access lines such as PICC lines and central venous cathetersAdministers contrast media as necessary, following established protocols and guidelinesManages patient communication and assists provider teams with care coordinationExplain procedures, address concerns, and ensure patient comfort and cooperation during the imaging processObtain and document patient medical history relevant to the imaging procedure, including signed consent. Includes utilization of EMR, RIS, and PACS systemsCommunicate effectively with healthcare team members, including physicians and advanced practice providers to ensure accurate and comprehensive patient careAdheres to all patient safety and compliance regulationsFollows radiation safety guidelines, as set forth by IEMA, ACR, and facility Radiation Safety Officer, to minimize exposure risks to patients and staffMaintain accurate records of imaging procedures, including patient information, equipment settings, and any adverse reactionsMaintains continuing educationStays current with advancements in radiologic technology and participate in continuing education to enhance skills and knowledgeActively participates in professional development activities to maintain relevant certifications and licenses
