VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital is thrilled to announce a significant expansion of our Emergency and ICU Team! We are seeking experienced Veterinary Assistants to be part of our dynamic team!Compensation: 18 - 25 / hrThe starting range for Veterinary Assistants is based on skill set, knowledge, and years of experience in the field. Financial growth opportunities available.Shift: Full-time opportunities, 3 x 13-hour shifts. With this large expansion, we are seeking Day, Swing, and Overnight Technicians.Shift Differential : A shift differential is offered to associates who work between certain hours.In this role, you will work alongside our Criticalists, ER Doctors, Specialists, and a supportive team of technicians to provide the best possible care for critically ill and injured pets.Key Responsibilities:Triage: Perform an initial assessment to evaluate the patient's condition quickly. This includes checking vital signs, assessing for obvious injuries or distress, and gathering information from the pet owner about the situation.Assist Doctors: Collaborate closely with veterinarians and CVTs to assist in exams, treatments, and medical procedures for emergency cases.Venipuncture and IVC Placement: Proficiently perform venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, and grow your advanced vascular access techniquesMedication Administration: Safely and accurately administer fluids, medications, and other treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.Team Collaboration: Work in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients receive optimal care. Maintain open communication with the healthcare team.Client Education: Provide clear and concise discharge instructions to clients, ensuring they understand the care their furry family member requires after leaving the hospital.Diagnostic Imaging: Operate diagnostic imaging equipment and assist in capturing radiographs and other diagnostic images.Laboratory Procedures: Run diagnostics, correlate results with the clinical presentation of the patient and notify Veterinarian of results.Plus More!Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Assistant in a clinical setting
Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
Proficiency in taking and recording vital signs, administering medications, and performing lab tests
