Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the financial services sector, based in Downers Grove, Illinois. As a Staff Accountant, your main focus will be on maintaining and analyzing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting various financial operations in the organization.Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Conduct account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of data in the general ledger. Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Utilize Excel for creating and maintaining Pivot Tables and VLookups in order to generate various financial reports and analyses. Assist in the preparation of the budget and monitor actual results against the budget. Analyze and address discrepancies and variances in financial reports, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. Generate ad hoc financial reports as needed by the management. Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide accounting support and resolve issues. Oversee the processes for Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger maintenance, and Journal Entries for month-end close. Requirements Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) tasks such as invoice processing, vendor communication, and account reconciliation Demonstrated skills in Accounts Receivable (AR) including, but not limited to, invoice creation, payment processing, and customer account management Capability to perform bank reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions Familiarity with managing General Ledger entries and ensuring their accuracy Experience with Journal Entries, including recording, reviewing, and adjusting entries as necessary Ability to handle Month End Close procedures, including account reconciliation, report generation, and financial statement preparation Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
