School Social Worker

Position: School Social Worker (K-8th Grade) – Part-time Location: Great Lakes, IL 60088 Grade: 5th - 8th Grade, Middle School Employment Type: Part-time Start Date: ASAP – June 13th, 2024 Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Flexible, Open to Part-Time) AnthroMed is looking for a dedicated School Social Worker to join our team in serving a diverse and dynamic school community. This position supports a K-8th grade student population, including families from the North Chicago area and military families associated with the Great Lakes Naval Base. The school environment is fast-paced and ever-changing, with students frequently moving in and out, and we are looking for someone who is adaptable, resourceful, and committed to supporting social-emotional development. Responsibilities: -Student Support: Provide individual and group counseling services to students, addressing social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns. Implement interventions for students with diverse needs, including those transitioning in and out of the community. -Restorative Justice: Support the school’s commitment to restorative justice by helping students resolve conflicts, understand the impact of their actions, and rebuild relationships within the school community. -Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, administrators, parents, and other support staff to create a safe and supportive school environment. Participate in school-wide initiatives and collaborate with staff to address the social-emotional needs of the student body. -IEP Support: Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), working closely with the case manager to schedule meetings and provide necessary documentation. -Multicultural Support: Serve a large Spanish-speaking population, providing bilingual services where necessary, and ensuring cultural competence in working with diverse families. -Program Implementation: Engage with and support various school programs such as Anchored4Life, reading initiatives, and other enrichment activities designed to support student well-being and academic success.
