Medical Lab Technician

Job Title: Medical Lab TechnicianJob Description

Provide quality test results by operating general chemistry, performing manual methods, and utilizing other available instrumentation in the laboratory.

Analyze and organize work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, checking labeling, logging specimens, arranging reports for delivery, and keeping work surfaces clean and orderly.

Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.

Maintain quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, and calibrating equipment using approved testing procedures.

Process and test upward of 1000 samples per shift.

Work with blood and urine samples and perform needed testing.

Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.

Specimen Handling

Work EnvironmentLab includes R&D, specimen receiving, chemistry, and microbiology. Training hours are M-F 6:30am/7am start time till 3:30pm/4pm - THEN transition into Night shift hours (10:30pm-7am) M-F with rotating Saturdays ORSecond Shift.
