Job Title: Boiler Operator

Department: Facility Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Shift: 7pm-7am (3 days week 1 then 4 days week 2)

Job Summary:

The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and monitoring of boilers and related equipment to ensure proper hot water and energy production for facility operations. This role requires adherence to safety standards, preventive maintenance schedules, and compliance with all regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain boilers, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, and related mechanical systems.

Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels to ensure proper boiler function and efficiency.

Conduct routine inspections to detect and address potential issues, leaks, or malfunctions.

Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on boiler equipment.

Maintain accurate logs of boiler operations, maintenance activities, and safety checks.

Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state/local safety regulations and standards.

Respond to emergency situations and alarms promptly and effectively.

Collaborate with maintenance teams and supervisors to coordinate repairs and downtime.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized boiler room environment.

Assist in training staff on boiler safety procedures when required.

Other duties as assigned by manager

Required skill set:

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.

Minimum of 1 years of experience operating boilers and mechanical systems.

Strong knowledge of boiler controls, safety devices, and mechanical systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and safety guidelines.

Basic computer skills for logging data and completing maintenance reports.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
