The New Product Development Electrical Engineering group conceives, architects, develops, tests, and delivers complex real-time embedded computing solutions as part of our electromechanical systems. Our work encompasses a wide range of electrical engineering fields including digital and analog circuits, microprocessors and microcontrollers, FPGAs, electronic sensors, thermal print heads, and printed circuit board design. Assignments will generally include the following areas:
Use the Mentor PADS Designer schematic capture tool to develop a printed circuit board.
Use the Mentor PADS Layout Viewer tool to review the layout of a printed circuit board.
Apply DFx principles to optimize the design of a printed circuit board.
Use standard electronics lab equipment to analyze, characterize, and debug electronic circuit boards and subsystems.
Create documentation of the architecture and detailed design of electrical subsystems.
Develop planning, organizational and leadership skills
Increase technology knowledge and skills
Develop team-based work proficiencies
Develop interpersonal skills to connect with day-to-day business contacts through follow up activities
THIS IS A HYBRID INTERNSHIP LOCATED IN LINCOLNSHIRE, IL. THE EXPECTATION IS AT LEAST 3 DAYS OF IN-OFFICE ATTENDANCE.
Qualifications:
Current enrollment in an undergraduate/graduate degree program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
Must have an anticipated graduation date between December 2025-May 2027
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
Experienced with schematic and layout tools (preferably Mentor PADS Designer)
Experienced with typical electronics lab test equipment such as scopes, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, etc.
Experienced with programming languages such as C, Java, Python, etc.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
Intellectual curiosity with a strong desire to learn and grow
Proven leadership and excellence in professional, academic, and/or extracurricular experiences
Ability to collaborate as part of a team
Effective verbal and written communication skills
