But more importantly, you work for the good of your career, your family, your community, and your world.Job SummaryThis position will be responsible for building scalable, high performance infrastructure and data driven predictive analytics applications using automation, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models to provide actionable recommendations and insights. The position will be part of Caterpillar’s fast-moving Global Parts Pricing team. This position will tackle challenges and problems that are critical to realizing significant business outcomes. Data engineers work with data scientists, business analysts, and others as part of a team that assembles large, complex data sets, automates processes and pipelines, and develops models that provide competitive advantage.What You Will Do:

Build infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources

Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability

Perform debugging, troubleshooting, modifications and testing of integration solutions

Operationalize the developed jobs, processes and models.

Create databases and infrastructure to process data at scale

Create solutions and methods to monitor systems and solutions

Automate code testing and pipelines

Design, develop, and maintain performant and scalable AI and ML models

Engage with business partners to participate in design and development of data integration/transformation solutions per functional requirements.

Engage and actively seek industry perspectives through, continuous learning, peer groups, etc.

What You Have:

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, or related field.

Strong development experience with modern development languages and frameworks, preferably Python, PySpark, etc.

Understanding of data structures, algorithms, profiling & optimization.

Understanding of SQL, ETL design, and data modeling techniques

Experience with version control and devops practices, like continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)

Experience building and deploying machine learning models, using popular libraries like Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, caret, or similar

Great verbal and written communication skills to collaborate cross functionally and enhance scalability.

Desired Skills:

MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related fields.

Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS

Experience building recommendation engines

Advanced level of experience in programming, data structures and algorithms.

Advanced experience in AI, ie. Machine Learning, NLP, Neural Networks in AWS.

Working knowledge of Agile Software development methodology.

Recognizes opportunities for machine learning and evangelizes them to make business improvements.
