Join Us.Purpose:The AI Prototyping, Research and Development team of Cat Digital is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to be a technical expert, working in a team environment, to support the development, integration & enhancement for Caterpillar gen-AI and other advanced projects.Responsibilities:

Developing AI and Generative AI models and solutions

Directing the data gathering, data mining, and data processing processes in huge volume; creating appropriate data models.

Exploring, promoting, and implementing semantic data capabilities through Natural Language Processing, text analysis and Machine Learning techniques.

Demonstrate a breadth of knowledge in the application of statistical methods and/or digital methods to solve business problems

Leading to define requirements and scope of data analyses; presenting and reporting possible business insights to management using data visualization technologies; mentoring junior data scientists.

Conducting research on data model optimization and algorithms to improve effectiveness and accuracy on data analyses.

Skills You Will Have:

Extensive experience applying Python (NumPy, SciPy, pandas, etc) programming to solve business challenges.

Extensive experience with advanced data analysis and statistical methods such as regression, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, statistical process control, etc.

Extensive experience in practical applications of Machine Learning techniques such as Clustering, Logistic Regression, Random Forests, SVM or Neural Networks.

Advanced experience in quantifying the costs, benefits, risks and chances for success before recommending a course of action.

Extensive experience in consulting and coaching others on sampling approaches and associated statistical significance.

Extensive experience in conducting walkthroughs and monitoring quality of the development activities.

Extensive experience using logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data to arrive at conclusions.

Extensive experience in conducting data mining and cleaning initiatives.

Working knowledge in writing, debugging, and implementing complex queries involving multiple tables or databases.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in Applied Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence & Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Science + X, Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Industrial, Agricultural, etc.), Informatics, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, MBA with Technical Undergrad, Predictive Analytics, Statistics, or equivalent technical degree.

Working experience with heavy equipment engineering.

Electrification knowledge such as battery, electric power systems

Experience in design / development of heavy equipment (ex. automotive, aerospace, engine, transmission, construction, mining, industrial, etc)

In-depth technical and problem-solving skills and evidence of continuous learning in the analytics field

Working knowledge with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc)

Advanced experience with version control / repositories such as GitHub

Experience operating in an Agile environment

Must demonstrate strong initiative, interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively.
