Volt is looking for an Engineering Aide to work on-site with our customer in Peoria, IL on a contingent assignment forecasted for 12 months. This position will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing instrumentation transducers, data acquisition systems, and components. Additional responsibilities may include the following:Create new instruments and/or modify instrumentation to work on machines.Create documentation for new instrumentation as training guides for instrumentation users. Manage priority of work with engineers, calibration, and asset management.Maintain repair documentation.Program the data acquisition system in order to verify transducer functionality.Conduct data verification runs.Review data for anomalies.Advanced radio hardware troubleshooting and programming.Modify off-the-shelf instrumentation to work on test machines as needed.May expand into other areas within the instrumentation team as needs dictate (instrument development, component strain gage, machine setup, or asset management).RequirementsAssociate degree in a STEM field or equivalent electronics repair experience.2-5 years of related instrumentation or electronic repair experience.Expert knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, circuit boards, resistance, current, voltage, schematics, electrical theory, physical theory, and application of electrical theory.Expert electronics troubleshooting skills.Expert data analysis and interpretation skillsCapable of communicating technical needs with peers, engineers, mechanics, and operators through phone, email, and in-person contact.Excellent documentation skills.Detail-oriented to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously.Desired:Expert-level experience setting up data acquisition systems.Expert-level knowledge of the theory of sensors, transducers, thermocouples, and strain gages.Knowledge of transducer applications on test machines.This position is subject to US Export Controls.
