Description Job Title: Payroll AccountantOverview:A Payroll Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees within an organization. They are responsible for managing payroll transactions, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies. The role demands strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and proficiency in payroll software and accounting principles.Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing:

Calculate wages, bonuses, commissions, and other payments accurately based on employee records and relevant regulations.

Ensure timely processing of payroll according to established schedules, including regular pay cycles and special payments.

Review and verify timesheets, attendance records, and other relevant data to ensure accuracy of payroll calculations.

Recordkeeping and Reporting:

Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee information, earnings, deductions, and taxes withheld.

Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management, HR, and other stakeholders as required.

Reconcile payroll transactions and resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.

Tax Compliance:

Stay up-to-date with tax regulations at the federal, state, and local levels to ensure compliance in payroll processing.

Calculate and withhold appropriate taxes, including income tax, Social Security, Medicare, and other applicable deductions.

Prepare and file payroll tax returns, including W-2 forms, in accordance with regulatory deadlines.

Benefits Administration:

Administer employee benefits related to payroll, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and flexible spending accounts.

Coordinate with HR and benefits providers to ensure accurate deductions and contributions are made.

Systems Management:

Utilize payroll software systems to process payroll efficiently and accurately.

Implement improvements and updates to payroll systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Provide training and support to other staff members on payroll software and procedures as needed.

Compliance and Auditing:

Conduct periodic audits of payroll records to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with internal and external auditors during payroll audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
