Date Posted:2024-02-15Country:United States of AmericaLocation:A01: Rockford - Aerospace 4747 Harrison Avenue, Rockford, IL, 61125 USAPosition Role Type:OnsiteCollins Aerospace is seeking an individual with an electrical/electronic engineering background who can work collaboratively with a customer team and across a broad range of functional disciplines including electrical, mechanical, and data communication interfaces.Responsible for supporting the design, development, and service of integrated Systems/Subsystems that include electronic controls and rotating hardware used in electric systems for military and commercial aircraft. This includes the definition of system-level requirements, the flow down of requirements to the appropriate LRU designers, simulation of system-level operation, coordination of system development and qualification testing, and support of testing at the customer facility.Onsite:

Must be a commutable distance from Rockford, IL to work onsite. This position is eligible for relocation.

Primary Responsibilities:

Apply principles and techniques of electrical/electronic engineering to ensure system design preparation in accordance with applicable specifications, customer requirements, and standard work practices.

Work to lead a cross-functional team and interfaced with various functional groups to coordinate design and engineering documentation releases, development testing, qualification testing, and entry into service.

P repare procedures and reports for testing systems and products, and document results of design studies, trade studies, and failure analyses.

Use requirement management tools such as DOORS and simulation/modeling tools such as MATLAB.

Travel –10% potential for both domestic and global.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

Electrical sub-systems development (e.g. aircraft utilities, power distribution units, actuation systems).

Ability to apply basic electrical and mechanical principles to design, analyze, and conduct engineering investigations on electronic products.

Broad life-cycle experience: requirements analysis through system integration including integration lab verification.

Respect for, and compatibility with, a structured development process where well-documented requirements, designs, and test procedures are essential.

Simulation and scripting experience (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink, Saber, Python).

Applicant must have good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with DOORs software is highly desirable.

Familiarity with RTCA, FAA, ARINC, MIL, and ISO specifications preferred.

Familiarity with Aircraft Certification requirements related to System Safety and Reliability (ARP4754, ARP4761, FAR / JAR), and Aircraft Electrical System Architecture.

Exposure to Model Based development including autocode generation.

Familiarity with Built-in Test Equipment design/EMI design/Aircraft Communications design.
