About the Position: This is a Production Machinery Mechanic (Machine Repair) Position. This position will be filled at the WG-9, WG-10, or full performance WG-11 with the Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center out of Rock Island, Illinouis. Responsibilities Repair or modify difficult mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic production or industrial equipment. Manufacture, modify, or rebuild complex hydraulic pumps. Perform preventative maintenance on industrial machinery. Troubleshoot equipment to determine the area of difficulty to complete repairs. Utilize geometry, complex shop mathematics, and handbook formulas for surfaces with interrelated dimensions. Apply construction and assembly techniques to manufacture replacement parts with complex configurations. Pushes, pulls, reaches, walks, crawls, kneels, bends, and climbs for sustained periods of time. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside/outside exposed to prevailing weather conditions and excessive noise. Constantly exposed to moving objects, elevations, and sharp edges with possibility of cuts and bruises and more serious injuries. Grease, dirt, and dampness are frequently encountered in job.
