Safety, the incumbent will serve as a technical expert to assure

adequacy of the Command Safety and Occupational Health (SOH)

Program.Learn more about this agencyResponsibilities

Act as a staff advisor for the command on hazardous material

safety issues and accident related matters.

Assist to implement accident prevention controls in all Military

Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Army and Army

Reserve units.

Assist to establish DOD and Army intramodel transportation

safety policies and serve as a liaison with the Department of

Defense (DOD), Department of Transportation (DOT) and other

federal regulatory, administrative or jurisdictional bodies.

Develop and recommend policies, practices, procedures, and

standards to be integrated in the design, development, test,

movement, and operational employment of transportation material

and equipment.

Identify specific safety problems, formulates appropriate

control measures and reports directly to the Director of Safety.

Reviews mobilization and contingency plans for safety

considerations.

Provide technical information to assure that the Command Safety

Program is compatible with and advances the successful

transportation missions of the command.

Develop and manage implementation of Army safety policy as it

applies to the command.

Participate in safety management surveys and inspections of

subordinate commands to evaluate and improve the accident

prevention efforts.

includes (1) Developing, interpreting and/or implementing safety and

occupational (SOH) health laws, standards, policies and/or

regulations to ensure organizational compliance; (2) Developing

and/or recommending safety and occupational health policy to higher

levels of management pertaining to subjects such as material

handling equipment, gantry cranes, locomotives,

ammunition/explosives handling, storage, and/or transportation of

hazardous material; AND (3) Managing safety and occupational health

program elements through SOH risk assessments, on-site field surveys

and/or accident investigations.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work

performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal

service (GS-12).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the

required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet

the qualification requirement using experience aloneno

substitution of education for experience is permitted.You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General

Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks
