Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Incumbent serves as Therapist responsible for the provision of mental health services to an assigned caseload of juveniles and families.DUTIES:
Provides crisis intervention, individual, family, and group counseling for juveniles and families as needed.
Implements screening tools and conducts formal assessments as needed.
Develops, reviews, and monitors the implementation of treatment plans for assigned caseload.
Maintains records and prepares reports to document relevant case information through the use of assessment summaries, treatment plans, case notes, court reports, behavior logs, and special programs.
Provides consultation and support to unit personnel in developing, implementing, and evaluating juvenile behavior management strategies.
Assesses and reports cases of substance use, potential suicide, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect.
Communicates with probation officers, case workers, therapists, psychiatrists, physicians, and other outside service providers, as it relates to assigned juveniles.
Provides juveniles and families with linkage and referral to other resources and community services.
Participates in the therapist on-call rotation.
Conducts campus in-service trainings to assigned personnel.
Maintains own professional development through attendance at meetings, seminars, and in-service trainings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, or related counseling field of study; licensed or license eligible.
Knowledge of and ability to make practical use of individual, family, and group counseling techniques.
Knowledge of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral assessment, family systems, human development, separation and loss, intervention strategies and techniques, evaluation, and crisis management.
Knowledge of juvenile justice and child welfare systems.
Knowledge of and ability to assess cases of substance use, potential suicide, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect.
Knowledge of and ability to make practical application of agency policies and procedures, Department of Child Services contracting requirements, Department of Correction standards.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversity, and disabilities.
Ability to work with minimum supervision, alone, and with others in a team environment, and work on several tasks at the same time under pressure.
DIFFICULTY OF WORK:Incumbent performs a variety of duties which are broad in scope and require consideration of many complex variables and their potential interrelationship in designing, assessing, evaluating, and modifying intervention strategies and counseling techniques.
