By maintaining compliance with regulations, properly securing steel commodities, communicating effectively, and upholding a clean, hazard-free worksite, the role directly supports the company’s goals of reliability, operational excellence, and strong customer satisfaction.Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:Be able to work in all weather conditionsOccasionally lift equipment of 50-100lbs (most typically tarps)Load flatbed trailers with various types of steel commodities within FMCSA regulationsReview load schedules, and work as an effective team to ensure all loads are completed for the customer within the shiftInspect and pre-trip the trailers to ensure there are no mechanical or electrical needs prior to loadingDrive empty and loaded trailers throughout the night on customer's property with a skilled staff of loaders directing your movementsManually guide forklift operators to properly place the product upon the trailerApply proper tiedown methods depending on the type of steel commodity before movementReporting damaged/inoperable equipment immediatelyCommunicate with other pre-loaders, on-site staff, and management should there be issues preloadingVerify load counts, and that all materials loaded matches the description of the load sheets providedClimb onto trailers to assess their condition and occasionally move materialsMaintain a clean and organized work environment to reduce hazard, maintain cleanliness, and improve the efficiency and longevity of equipmentMaintain cleanliness on the property site to ensure the area is satisfactorily and safely managed to prevent hazardous debris that could damage equipment or harm personnel.
