The scope of responsibility of the Surgical Technologist includes the ability to anticipate, plan for, and respond to the needs of the patient, surgeon, and other team members. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients, patient families, coworkers, and physicians.EducationMust have a high school diploma or the equivalent GED. Must be a graduate of a Surgical Technologist program or must provide evidence of employment as a Surgical Technologist prior to July 1, 2009.Licensure/CertificationMust have current certified surgical technologist certification; or obtain certification within 12 months of completion of a degree from an accredited school of surgical technology; or must provide evidence of employment as a certified surgical technologist prior to July 1, 2009; or must be a current valid licensed practitioner providing evidence of employment as a surgical technologist. Certification must be renewed every four years. Completes required 15 CEU credits annually.
