About the Family & Social Services Administration: The Division of Family Resources (DFR) within the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) is responsible for establishing eligibility for Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits. The division also manages the timely and accurate delivery of SNAP and TANF benefits. DFR also provides employment and training services to some SNAP and TANF recipients. The division’s overarching focus is the support and preservation of families by emphasizing self-sufficiency and personal responsibility. Salary: This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $39,000.00. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience. Role Overview: This role examines and analyzes individual Medicaid eligibility reviews to determine if state and federal policies and procedures are being correctly followed. Your role will report on these findings and will cover all categories of Medicaid cases. The ideal candidate will have experience in using the Indiana Eligibility Determination Services System (IEDDS), a high degree of proficiency in Medicaid case processing and thorough policy knowledge. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Research and interpret federal regulation changes and/or requirements.

Research and develop service innovations and issues for presentation to the Human Services staff and appropriate committees.

Research and establish database for specific human services areas.

Develop program service descriptions.

Collect and analyze social services data for planning purposes.

Solicit, incorporate, and maintain citizen participation in the planning process, which involves public meeting on local level.

Act as a consultant to, and specialist in, specified program areas such as child abuse and neglect, development disabilities, mental illnesses, physical disabilities, family services, etc.

Review state legislative proposals and actions.

Maintain coordination and communication with other administrative units in the programs.

Research and make recommendations needed in the development and consequent publication of the Annual Comprehensive Services Plan.

Conduct on-going needs assessment for services.

What You'll Need for Success: You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:

Specialized knowledge of the Federal Program Statutes and ability to interpret applicable rules and regulations.

Specialized knowledge of planning within social service program areas such as child abuse and neglect, developmental disabilities, mental illness, physical disabilities, family services, etc., of all state agencies, local agencies and organizations and planning groups.

Specialized knowledge of research procedures and activities.

Ability to relate to agency personnel on a local, state, interstate, and regional level.

Ability to write clear and concise program descriptions, research papers, correspondence, and procedures.

Ability to travel on a limited basis to various regions of the state to gather research, hold planning meetings and public hearings with other planning agencies.

Effective communication skills.
