Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Purchaser in LA PORTE, Indiana, 46350, United States. In this role, you will be tasked with managing all purchasing aspects for the company, including raw materials, supplies, and equipment for production, maintenance, and tooling, in a manner that is both cost-effective and timely.Responsibilities: Accurately process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment Participate actively in the development of specifications for inventory and equipment Keep track of overseas shipments and handle Customs issues, brokerage fees, etc. Monitor commodity prices and make purchase decisions for base metals (nickel, copper, aluminum) based on current market conditions Maintain up-to-date records of ordered and received goods Handle debit memos for returns and defective material Determine work procedures, schedule workflow, and expedite orders from suppliers as required Identify vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies and communicate with them to determine product availability and terms of sale Obtain multiple quotes and select supplier offering acceptable quality at the lowest cost Perform competitive comparison of online vs. conventional vendors Rate both ground and overseas shippers according to cost and quality of performance for future reference Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers Issue Corrective Action Reports (CARs) to suppliers and transporters to arrange necessary corrections and repairs Administer contracts including discussions about appropriate credit terms and contract language Negotiate and secure transportation for purchases to control shipping costs Keep Supplier Certifications up to date in company files. This role requires skills in Buying Processes, Communication, Negotiation, Contract Negotiations, Purchasing Activities, Purchasing Functions, Purchasing Materials, Purchasing planning, and Purchasing Procurement. Requirements Minimum of 3 years of experience in a purchasing role or related field Proficiency in various buying processes Strong verbal and written communication skills Proven negotiation skills and experience with contract negotiations Ability to negotiate contracts effectively, ensuring the best terms for the company Experience in handling various purchasing activities and functions Familiarity with purchasing materials and planning for their procurement Understanding of purchasing procurement processes Ability to perform purchasing functions efficiently and effectively Able to manage purchasing activities in a timely manner.
