La Scala, currently downtown Lafayette's oldest fine dining establishment, is looking for an efficient, enthusiastic individual to join our team as General Manager. Restaurant experience is mandatory and some leadership experience required. The general manager is responsible for overseeing all of the restaurant's operations, which includes hiring and firing staff of front of house staff, running the bar, making alcohol (and other) orders, and working closely with the owners. The general manager also oversees the scheduling of front of house staff, managing reservations, and making arrangements for all large parties. There may be additional areas of responsibility, such as marketing and promotion, or finding entertainment or scheduling other events.
The general manager must be skilled in handling stressful working conditions, be an excellent multitasker, and be able to deal with frequent interruptions calmly and decisively. Delegation is a key skill for any manager.
