As a Shipping Handler, you will:Perform final packaging of all freight and small parcel shipments according to DOT regulations and customer demand.Follow checklists for each machine and piece of equipment being shipped.Verify accuracy of quantities and complete checklist for each order, reporting any discrepancies to the Shipping Team Lead/Production Team Lead.Load all outgoing freight shipments according to DOT regulations with use of fork truck.Build and assemble wooden crates and pallets as needed.Perform daily planned maintenance checks on equipment (pallet jack, hoist), reporting findings daily to the Shipping Team Lead.Maintain dock area, keeping it clean and free of debris.Ensure inbound/outbound shipments on loading dock are segregated to avoid confusion on items being shipped and material needing to be distributed.Perform additional ad hoc assembly tasks as assigned. Hours: 1st shift position. Additional overtime may be permitted when carrier is running late or during peak operational times (example: end of the month).The position will report to the Shipping Team Lead at the start of shift to define orders that need to be shipped/prepped during hours of operation and learn additional information/instructions related to the work to be performed.
