Description We are looking to bring on board an Assistant Controller for our client just North of Indianapolis. This role is crucial to the construction industry, where you will be responsible for overseeing several key accounting functions. The Assistant Controller position is designated for career growth and will report directly to the Controller and indirectly to the CFO. Responsibilities: Oversee and manage payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable staff Review and manage payroll for three companies, working closely with Professional Employer Organization on payroll files and queries Oversee and review accounts payable invoice batches for all companies Manage and review accounts receivable billings for all companies Prepare and review weekly cash balances for all companies Oversee weekly cash requirements for all companies and ensure compliance with payment terms Prepare monthly cash reconciliations for all companies File monthly and annual sales and use tax returns Manage all company credit cards Review job setup, change orders, and subcontractor setup Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and work-in-progress schedule Assist with year-end tax planning and gathering tax information Prepare annual Form 1099s for all companies Coordinate IT updates and maintenance with outsourced IT company Prepare billing and gross profit reports for management Assist controller and upper management with various tasks.Requirements Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in an Assistant Controller role or similar position within the construction or contractor industry Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required for this role Experience in creating and managing Crystal Reports is essential Must have a thorough understanding of Accounting Functions Knowledge and experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Prior experience in Auditing is a must Must have experience in Billing Functions Familiarity with Month End Close processes Ability to Analyze Financial Statements and prepare Financial Statement Preparation Experience in Lease Accounting is required Knowledge of Fixed Asset Accounting is essential Must have experience in handling Payroll Experience in managing Tax - Sales & Use is necessary.
