Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to join our team in Ankeny, IA. The successful candidate will perform laboratory technical tasks, care for and maintain laboratory equipment, assist with equipment operation and data gathering, and aid in the receipt and inspection of raw materials. This role requires following instructions and pre-established guidelines to fulfill job functions.Responsibilities
Perform laboratory technical tasks.
Care for and maintain laboratory equipment.
Assist in the operation of laboratory equipment and gather data.
Assist with the receipt and inspection of raw materials.
Order and stock laboratory supplies.
Run production processes.
Conduct genotyping in sample preparation, DNA extraction, or detection.
Essential Skills
Knowledge of biology, agriculture, genetics, and laboratory practices.
Experience as a lab technician or research associate.
Understanding of automated laboratory procedures.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent within the Life Sciences.
1-3 years of related experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with commonly-used laboratory concepts, practices, and procedures.
Work EnvironmentThis position is in the Seed Chipping Lab, which is a non-technical lab featuring large robotic machines for genetic testing. Candidates will not perform bench lab work. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. This is a 3-month contract with the possibility of extension based on workload and performance, potentially leading to a long-term opportunity.
