JOB GOAL:To advance the college’s mission, vision, principles, values and strategic initiatives through continuous decisions and improvements to the College Learning Environment.GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Successful candidate will assist with environmental, safety, and health (EHS) responsibilities to help with compliance needs by navigating OSHA (and other federal agencies) regulations and working with an online safety software. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Become familiar with Kirkwood’s online safety data sheet (SDS) hub and chemical inventory system (training will be provided)

Assist with data entry into CampusOptics

Perform other related work duties as assigned

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

Become knowledgeable of OSHA’s Hazard Communication (HazCom) standard (training will be provided).

Requires organizational skills, good communication skills, and attention to detail.

Frequent (66-80%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Background in EHS, safety, or a science-related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

Knowledge of OSHA’s HazCom standard.

Knowledge of how to read/understand a SDS.

Proficiency in various office and spreadsheet software including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ability to learn other software programs.
