Reporting Relations:Accountable and Reports to: VP, Supply Chain/Transportation; Director of Transportation, CherokeePositions that Report to you: Lead Dispatch, Truck Shop Manager, Payroll, Dispatchers, DriversPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:Completes onboarding for new hires and driver training for current drivers; mentors new and existing employees. Assists in managing the day-to-day operations of the Transportation Department. Provides clear and direct communication to all employees. Completes and provides weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports. Assists in Dispatch and Payroll when needed. Manages and ensures employee and driver compliance with policy and guidelines; including, but not limited to, attendance, disciplinary, and company policies and transportation guidelines. Manages Road of Gold Committee, Reviews, and Meetings for the Road of Gold Program. Participate in schedule planning meetings for holidays and special events. Investigate damage and complaints. Submits information and documentation for employee records. Attends and participates in meetings. Must maintain a valid CDL as defined by federal driving guidelines. Reports to work when scheduled and on time.Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: Available for calls after hours if needed. Conducts drive tests for new hires. Performs other job related duties and special projects as required. Available for travel to meetings, drop lots, and truck transfers.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:Must have the ability to do logical thinking to solve problems; several abstract and concrete variables. Must be able to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages. Must have the ability to write form letters or routine correspondence; interpret written work instructions; and counsel or advice people. Must have the ability to do medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distance of less than 20 inches and up to 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, feeling, crawling, repetitive motion, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, climbing, bending, and balancing.Education and Experience:

High school or equivalent experience.

Over six months up to one year of similar or related work experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities (Direct Reports):Responsible for instructing, assigning work, reviewing work, planning work of others, maintaining standards, coordinating activities of others, allocating personnel, and acting on employee problems. Has authority to recommend employee discipline, transfers, promotions, and discharge.Physical Requirements:Must have the ability to do medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, feeling, crawling, repetitive motion, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, climbing, bending, and balancing.Working Conditions:The duties for this position are normally conducted in a combination of an office and warehouse environment. There is significant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a day. There is possible exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, equipment movement hazards, and dangerous chemicals/solvents.Equipment Used to Perform Job:PC computer with transportation software capabilities, telephone, computerized dispatch program, fax copier, 10-key calculator, and warehouse handling equipment.Financial ResponsibilityResponsible for the safeguard of all warehouse/transportation assets.
