Job DescriptionRecruit, hire and retain direct reports to build an effective work unit. Plan and advocate for the unit's program and staffing needs. Collaborate with other unit staff to maintain a culture that is positive and productive for clients, the community and fellow employees. Service as a member of the district's Leadership Team. Consistently demonstrates effective preparation, participation and follow up as a member of the Leadership Team. Leadership is demonstrated on a daily basis by modeling integrity, respect, and professionalism. Emphasizes creating positive relationships, communicating clearly, effectively making decisions, resolving conflict, and helping others through change processes. Maintains flexibility and continuously evaluates personal effectives with a focus on professional self-development. Groups meetings are organized and purposeful, regularly scheduled and focused on overall development of the work unit and culture.Maintains overall unit operations, including assignment of work, completion of identified training and follow through on assigned administrative duties. Adhere to all Department policies and procedures and hold direct reports accountable for adherence to policies and procedures. Assigns and monitors the work of staff of ensure appropriate quality, quantity and effective work is produced by the Department. Reviews and approves written reports. Makes timely and effective decisions based on accurate and objective data. Holds direct reports accountable, to include developing and implementing performance improvement plans, establishing work directives, conducting employee investigations and imposing discipline in accordance with policy. Plans and implements effective individual and group meetings with direct reports. Individual meetings are purposeful and focused on individual performance and professional development planning, including completion of individualized, meaningful and data driven performance reviews.Provide leadership to direct reports through mentoring, coaching and positive reinforcement. Routinely reviews work quality of direct reports through documentation review and observation of individual and group client sessions. Provides coaching and feedback regarding effective use of risk/responsivity principles, core correctional practices and other proven case management principles. Conducts training on all aspects of case management and best practices in community-based corrections including assessments that identify risk, need and responsivity for the purpose of developing effective intervention strategies. Must be highly proficient in risk assessments, case management, core correctional practices and supervision strategies.Monitors staff performance, conducts performance evaluations, performs all audits and case reviews with an emphasis on overall continuous quality improvement and is proactive in responding to staff performance issues.Leads a multi-disciplinary team in an organized and effective manner to improve client outcomes consistent with change principles and district goals. Responds promptly and respectfully to all customers. Works effectively with other work units and other community-based agencies. Builds relationships with interested parties dealing with criminal justice matters such as courts, law enforcement and other community partners. Supports inclusion and diversity in all dealings with clients, employees, and community members.Hours: Salaried position, flexible and variable schedule including night, evening and weekend hours to accommodate position requirements including being assigned weeks on the on-call rotation, treatment and supervision services for clients, availability outside of normal business hours to assist staff and community partners, routine travel and training.Minimum Qualification RequirementsApplicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field, and experience equal to four years of full-time work in human services, criminal justice, or corrections.

A total of eight years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.

Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as a Probation/Parole Officer 3.
