DUTIES: Wellmark, Inc. seeks a Lead FHIR Software Engineer based out of our office at 1331 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. Note, this position does not require travel. Provide overall coordination and oversight of technical approach, deliverables, and schedule for medium to high complexity initiatives which are cross-functional in nature. Engage with Delivery Teams to ensure features are prioritized and managed to align deliverables to overall scope and timeline. Conduct regular reviews of the DevOps backlog to understand the status of each Delivery Team’s work. Identify and articulate risks, issues, and dependencies across multiple delivery teams and work with key resources to mitigate and resolve barriers. Engage with peers and Delivery Teams to regularly review and update resource forecasts and estimates for the FHIR domain. Ensure Delivery Teams have a plan to complete work items, regularly review the backlog to make sure work is progressing to plan and work proactively with technical Delivery Teams to manage and resolve delivery barriers. Coordinate cross-functional endto-end solution design sessions by bringing teams together to solve problems and ensure teams have a mutual understanding of work and commitments. Verify Wellmark’s SDLC standards are followed, including cross-functional reviews and Delivery Team governance processes to ensure deliverables are complete, accurate, and comprehensive for successful execution. Lead system development and engineering for highly complex programs. Coordinate the preparation, coding, testing, and debugging of complex programs; including the analysis and development of workflows that utilize emerging technology and meet and exceed Wellmark’s evolving business needs. Serve as subject matter expert in the implementation of innovative and cost-effective business solutions for multiple applications and systems utilizing information technology, business, and industry trends. Provide leadership, training, andguidance to others on the team in the gathering of information, research needed for root cause analysis, problem definition and formulation, solution implementation, verification, and ongoing optimization. Ensure analysis of defects to find root cause and guide others in the identification of potential improvement opportunities. Mentor, guide and problem-solve with other technology areas in the development and implementation of solutions, including how to use new or enhanced software/applications. Coordinate with company resources to accomplish integration of products and processes and complex solutions. Provide timely and accurate results, and exceptional customer service. Utilize established relationships with Wellmark leaders and act as a primary consultant on business status, issues, process improvements and technology enhancements or capabilities. Participate in business case proposals, estimates and proof-of-concept activities. Maintain awareness of industry’s best practices and standards and proactively participates in industry/knowledge reference groups relative to role. Providedirection for enterprise standards. Conduct code reviews and monitor standard adherence. Conduct high level systems analysis and implementation of high performing software solutions that are efficient and cost effective, and which support Wellmark’s business and Technology applications. Contribute to and drive adoption of best practices (development standards, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, etc.) across various platforms. Lead and support a diverse development resourcing model which includes Wellmark staff, global onshore/offshore staffing, crowdsourcing, etc. Provide soft coaching and mentoring to team members and manage deliverables across teams and technology platforms.
