Description Robert Half is looking for an efficient, accurate Staff Accountant to fill a position at a growing company. The company offering this terrific short-term contract opportunity is based in the Des Moines Metro area and provides rewards for hard work. The Staff Accountant plays a major role in the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. A great deal of time in this position will be spent producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility. This staff Accountant will also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, take part in compliance, and look over schedules for the reporting processes.Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management

Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

Take part in various department-wide initiatives

Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision

Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

Requirements

Requirements:

Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

ERP system experience

Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills

Self-starter and strong ethical standards

Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger

Spreadsheet and database capabilities

Ability to meet deadlines
