Summary
The Parts Manager is responsible for supervising the parts department by managing the parts department personnel, budget, reporting, sales, inventory control, marketing, training and all other functions.
Essential Functions
Supervise – Manage and review parts department personnel in accordance with company policies, procedures and guidelines with Branch Manager. Assist in the development of forecasts and budgets for the parts department. Review parts and financial monthly reports with the Branch Manager. Assume responsibility for the financial performance of the parts department.
Sales – Ensure that all parts sales and purchases are done in a timely and technically accurate manner. Assist in maintenance of customer ownership records. Assure the recording of all lost sales and generate lost sales reports. Fill customer orders from stock. Advise customers on substitution or modification parts as needed. Pick up and deliver parts for customers and vendors as needed. Receive payment or obtain credit authorizations. Examine returned parts to determine if defective and exchange parts or provide refund. Maintain a clean, orderly and safe parts area and appearance.
Inventory Control – Assume the responsibility for merchandising the department. Maintain current parts reference library for all products. Correct discrepancies between inventory records and shelf quantities. Ensure technicians receive correct parts according to demand. Maintain part return records. Mark and store parts in stockroom according to the prearranged system. Promptly restock all unsold merchandise and properly tag defective items to place in warranty bins. Return all unsold merchandise immediately to the correct stock location. Control expenses to increase profitability.
Marketing – Assume responsibility for development and institution of parts marketing programs. Promote dealerships specials and suggest parts and service sales. Perform phone sales in accordance with the company’s guidelines, direction or action plans.
Training – Assist Branch Manager in coordinating the training of all parts department personnel. Stay current on new product bulletins and catalogs. Attend store meetings and training classes. Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Other Functions
Respond as necessary in the absence of other dealer personnel.
Assist with annual physical inventory.
Assist with other duties assigned and directed by corporate management within the frame work of Murphy Tractor and Equipment Company, Inc.’s objectives.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Able to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Able to travel 75% of time. Employee is subject to outside environmental conditions occasionally; inside conditions frequently, with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change. Employee must be able to stand for an extensive amount of time.
Education/Work Experience
At least one year of management experience in a related business. One-year certificate from a college or technical school or at least three years related experience and/or training in the subordinate position.
