Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk much of the time during the day.

Previous Bookkeeping or accounting experience helpful.

Is honest and dependable and is discreet in regard to information concerning school children and staff.

REPORTS TO: Director of Food Service and Kitchen ManagerSUPERVISES: n/a JOB GOAL: Successfully assist with food preparation, packing, and cleaning on a daily basis in order to prepare and distribute healthy safe meals for the district in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Is able to assist in the preparation of soups, casseroles, meats, vegetables, desserts, baking products, sauces, or gravies in large quantities (at least 100 servings) by using appropriate food preparation methods and following standardized recipes.
Assist with serving, cashiering, kitchen clean-up, and the cleaning of silverware, dishes, pans, trays, and equipment as assigned.
Recognizes properly prepared food items by temperature, sight, taste and smell.
Is able to properly use quantity food service production equipment including convection or conventional ovens, griddles, steamers, steam kettles, slicers, mixers, dish machines, and other equipment.
Follows established sanitation guidelines for both food preparation and clean-up.
Must be able to count accurately and perform simple math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Has a daily responsibility in assisting with food preparation or cooking, packing food and supplies, cleaning and sanitation, and other duties as assigned by the kitchen manager. Is able to read recipes and follow instructions with food preparation.
On the job training is provided. Additional training opportunities are available through the Iowa School Food Service Association and Bureau of Food and Nutrition.
Monitoring and running an elementary lunch program.
Responsible for all bookkeeping and accounting procedures related to accurate handling of ticket sales, daily cash and classification of lunches.
Responsible for ensuring that all food service assistants and student servers are following portioning guidelines so that all lunches served meet federal guidelines.
Make sure that all food service staff and student servers are following food sanitation guidelines.
Monitor all milk deliveries making sure appropriate amount of milk is delivered.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Service.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 175 Contract Days + 14 hrs required training. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Negotiated Agreement between Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 199.
