Full salary range: $55,432.00 - $69,513.60
Hours: Monday Friday, 8:00am 5:00pm
Job summary:
Co-leads and supports community relations and engagement for City and community climate action initiatives. Coordinates awareness, education and marketing efforts for the Office of Climate Action and Outreach, with an external and internal audience. Ensures the developed and implemented educational programs, special events and communication materials actively diversify, establish and strengthen community stakeholder partnerships and the outcomes of these efforts align with City climate action strategies. Manages environmental and climate action volunteer programs, facilitates meaningful engagement with diverse populations, and supports collaborative implementation of special projects and programs across City Departments
Minimum qualifications:
Associate degree in public relations, journalism, marketing, event planning, graphic design, environmental policy and planning or related area from an educational institution accredited by a DOE recognized accreditation body, plus one year of related experience required. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills required. Valid drivers license with satisfactory driving record required. Must be at least 18 years of age per Iowa Code 92.8. Must pass criminal background check.
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an educational institution accredited by a DOE recognized accreditation body with preference for increasingly responsible experience in any or some combination of the following: communications, graphic design, event planning, public speaking, community engagement, facilitation, or mediation, sustainability program development or planning and volunteer coordination. Bilingual proficiency a plus.
