Job DescriptionThe 7th Judicial District of the Iowa Judicial Branch is seeking qualified candidates for immediate Court Reporter – Certified Shorthand Reporter openings. Court Reporter – Certified Shorthand Reporter positions are under the direction and supervision of the District Court Administrator as the Chief Judge’s designee and can be assigned to report on proceedings with any Judge in any county in the 7thJudicial District.The starting salary for new State of Iowa Judicial employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. The pay range is $28.52 - $46.54 per hour or $2281.60 - $3723.20 bi-weekly.Hours:Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P Location:TBDTo Apply:Candidates will need to submit a cover letter and resume. Captures court testimony and proceedings with stenography machine
Reads back court testimony and proceedings upon request
Prepares transcripts, performs general office work
Marks and records exhibits during court proceedings
Performs related work as determined by Judge, Chief Judge or designee
Electronic document filing required in all counites within the District
May be required to work for any Judicial Officer in the District per operational needs
Travel within the District required
Court Reporter will purchase and maintain court reporting software and stenotype machines and/or verbatim recording equipment

This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Judicial Branch. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section.Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise. Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency) and graduation from a school of court reporting.
Must be certified by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters within 12 months of employment, and certification must be maintained as a condition of employment. Certification demonstrates proficiency based on the standard of the National Court Reporters Association for the earned designation of Registered Professional Reporter or the National Verbatim Reporters Association for the earned designation of Certified Verbatim Reporter.
