Description We are working with a reputable organization offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Legal Assistant. This role is for a law firm based in Waterloo, Iowa. As part of the legal industry, the Legal Assistant will handle a variety of administrative and clerical tasks, including processing client files, managing schedules, supporting attorneys, and interacting with clients. Responsibilities: Be the first point of contact for clients, handling calls and transferring messages as necessary. Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for various tasks including drafting and editing documents, managing data, and scheduling appointments. Accurately input time entries for the attorney, ensuring all records are up-to-date. Manage the attorney's schedule, including out-of-office work and travel arrangements. Handle client files, including retiring and closing files according to established procedures. Ensure the accuracy and clarity of dictated documents using Dragon software. Utilize various legal software such as Aderant, Adobe Acrobat, and CompuLaw for case management. Manage client relations, ensuring excellent customer service even in challenging situations. Assist with court proceedings and billing functions as required. Keep up-to-date with the latest in consumer electronics relevant to the role.Requirements Bachelor's degree in law or related field is preferred Certification as a legal assistant or secretary is a plus.
