POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for obtaining materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability and timing requirements. Also actively involved in the production planning team activities from order receipt to shipping to ensure customer satisfaction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtain materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability and timing requirements.
Manage all aspects of inventory. This includes but is not limited to monitoring and maintaining current inventory levels, processing purchase orders and reconciling physical stock counts to ERP system records.
Analyze quotations, select/recommend vendors, negotiate pricing and monitor supplier performance.
Assist in production planning and scheduling for the plant floor.
Review all shipping, receiving and all material handling procedures to maintain inventory accuracy.
Analyze value streams related to purchasing and inventory. Recommend solutions to existing processes to reduce waste and increase quality.
Ensure compliance with government and safety constraints on toxic and hazardous substances relative to purchased products and manufacturing processes.
Initiate corrective actions when problems which impact the quality of the product and/or the quality system are identified.
Coordinate annual physical inventory process
SKILL AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree or equivalent of 2 years progressive purchasing experience in a related industry. Must possess communication abilities and analytical/problem solving. Understanding of and the ability to apply the ISO-9001 standards.
