Description We are currently seeking a Sr. Accountant to join our team in the Insurance industry based in WEST DES MOINES, Iowa. This role involves high-level accounting duties, including the management and analysis of financial statements, as well as handling reinsurance contracts. In this role, you will also be expected to prepare statutory reports and assist in audits when necessary.Responsibilities: Prepare and manage monthly financial statements and perform in-depth analysis. Understand and operate inter-company pooling agreements effectively. Determine the appropriate level of premiums, losses, and commissions to be ceded each month under the company’s reinsurance contracts. Authorize appropriate journal entries for various transactions. Prepare statutory quarterly and annual statements along with supplemental filings. Assist independent auditors as needed. Stay updated on current developments in the accounting and insurance industry. Research technical accounting issues and document recommendations. Execute account, balance sheet, and bank reconciliations. Conduct general ledger management, journal entries, and month-end close activities. Utilize your skills in reinsurance to benefit the company.Requirements Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the Insurance industry Proficient in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliations Demonstrated ability in handling General Ledger and Journal Entries Experience with Month End Close procedures is required Familiarity with Reinsurance is a distinct advantage Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial software Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Professional certification such as CPA is preferred.Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
