Overview: Provides leadership and direction to all operations activities for KanPak and ensures the attainment of all quality, cost, timeliness, safety and customer satisfaction objectives and company financial and growth goals. ResponsibilitiesPrimary Objectives:
Coordinate Golden State Foods Quality activities and operations to meet objective for quality, food safety, integrity, regulatory compliances, cost, safety and customer satisfaction at KanPak
Participate in formulating and administering division’s short- and long-range goals and objectives for business growth
Directs the development and implementation of the operations strategic plan to achieve the optimum service level to customers and the achievement of company objectives through cost efficient, integrated operations systems.
Directs all KanPak operations activities and establishes policies and procedures to ensure that all activities meet company standards for safety, quality, timeliness and cost.
Develops and maintains external high-level business relationships, including participation in relevant trade and association meetings, regular meetings and conferences with customers, and other relevant activities to ensure constructive customer relationships and the maintenance of the company’s continued good standing with existing and prospective customers.
Directs subordinate management in staff/personnel functions including selecting employees, assigning work, providing training and development, evaluating performance, and building a motivated, effective team to ensure that organizational goals for diversity, career development, productivity, performance management and employee involvement are met.
Provides high-level technical support to domestic and international operations
Develops recommendations for improving operations
Assists in developing capital improvement implementation plans and budgets to meet growth objectives and Company expectations for return on investment
Coordinates operations functions with the Vice President of Sales and Marketing and ensures that manufacturing and packing capabilities meet current and projected market projections.
Identifies third party processing and/or packaging resources and ensures that Company standards for cost, safety, quality and timeliness are met
Participates in developing the overall strategic direction of the company to ensure the achievement of projected growth, profitability and customer service goals for the nearer and longer term market challenges and opportunities.
Participates in planning and purchasing of key commodities to meet sales and projections and standards for cost &quality
Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications
Education / Experience Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Business or Engineering or a related area.
Valid driver’s license in state of employment
10 years of progressively responsible food processing management experience in a complex food-manufacturing environment, including significant experience managing large groups of operations employees
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have working knowledge of FDA, local state agriculture and PMO regulations, and have experience with advanced analytical, chemical, and microbiological instrumentation.
Must have in-depth knowledge of regulatory (FDA) requirements, such as good manufacturing practices, good laboratory practices, sanitation practices, sanitary design, food defense.
Must have in-depth knowledge of administration of a risk-based food safety system utilizing risk analysis to determine appropriate prerequisite programs and mitigating preventative controls.
Must successfully compete Better Processing Control School to become certified in thermal processing systems, acidification, and container closure evaluation programs for low-acid and acidified foods.
Must also possess a thorough understanding of aseptic food processing and UHT/AP operations.
Required skills include motivating and managing personnel, ability to troubleshoot problems, decision making in difficult situations, coordinating efforts among plant departments, and proactively working with customers and suppliers.
Must have ability to investigate issues using reasoning, analytical and creative skills in order to implement appropriate corrective action(s).
