Position Overview:The Interior Architecture (IA) Program in the School of Architecture and Design at University of Kansas invites applications for a full-time (100% appointment), non-tenure-track position of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Practice. The position will begin in Fall 2025. The successful candidate for this position is expected to have significant professional experience as outlined in the Required Qualifications below. Upon hire, the successful candidate is expected to continue design practice while teaching; a part-time appointment is possible based on the extent of the candidate's design practice.The core purpose of Interior Architecture faculty is to prepare future interior design professionals through the B.S. in Interior Architecture degree. Through career-focused instruction in a collaborative studio environment, students learn to create innovative, equitable, and meaningful interior environments that support the human condition and improve the ecological health of the planet. Research-driven, evidence-based, and human-centered design processes are reinforced by learning experiences that reflect the present and future practice.In its 7th academic year, the IA Program received the CIDA accreditation candidacy in 2022 and is currently preparing for its first full accreditation in 2025-26. Students who graduate with the B.S. in Interior Architecture have the opportunity to enroll in the NAAB-accredited, M.Arch degree program within the Architecture Department and complete it in 2 years. In addition to the IA and M. Arch degrees, the Architecture Department also offers an MA in Architecture, a PhD, and multiple certificate programs.
