29070BRJob Title:Temporary Research AidDepartment:Bureau of Child ResearchPrimary Campus:Kansas City, KansasJob Description:The Temporary Research Aid will support the development and implementation of prevention, intervention, and evaluation activities to support violence prevention services.The person will be employed by the University of Kansas (KU) but may be co-located or needed to work from the Kansas City and/or Lawrence office depending on the work. The KU CCHD provides a supportive working environment and the opportunity to work with a committed team and community partners. In addition, specific duties include:25% - Develop and implement prevention programs for youth in Kansas City metro area. Assist with providing in- and out-of-school services and supports (e.g., after school prevention program) for the youth.20% - Assist in violence prevention efforts for the project and/or with other partners, and support other duties as assigned.10% - Document consistently and accurately in written and computerized records all contacts with participants and program partners.20% - Conduct assessments, collect data, manage data and databases, and contribute to writing reports. Identify and assess existing data sources for their potential use in program evaluation. Gather data using qualitative and quantitative approaches such as interviews, group processes, participant observation, surveys, electronic data files, or other methods.15% - Monitor progress and support attainment of grant/contract responsibilities. Implement and support data collection, quality assurance, and data analysis through the documentation and review of data using the Community Check Box Evaluation System. Provide project support including community-friendly technical reports, presentation, planning guides, and other materials. High school Diploma or GED

Experience working with a wide range of communities across racial and ethnic groups and socioeconomic status, as evidenced by application materials.

Experience working with or serving youth in Wyandotte County, as evidenced by work history.

Excellent written skills, as evidenced by the application materials.

At least one year experience working with data and evaluation.

Bachelor’s Degree in community health and development or another related field.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team and work well with supervision, evidenced by application materials.

Position Overview:The Center for Community Health and Development through the Youth Violence Prevention Center – Kansas City is seeking a part-time (approximately 20 hours weekly) Temporary Research Aid for the ThrYve Violence Prevention Project (https://wethryve.org) . We seek a professional with experience and interest in community violence prevention and evaluation. The position is funded through the Center for Community Health & Development at the University of Kansas (KU CCHD) ( http://communityhealth.ku.edu ). The KU CCHD provides a supportive working environment, competitive benefits, and the opportunity to work with a committed team and community partners. This is a temporary position.Note: This position requires flexibility to work some evenings & weekends, a reliable car and valid driver’s license. Standard schedule may be between 9 am to 6 pm.
