Hours: 8am-5pm Monday-Friday, hours may vary depending on projects including mandatory overtime and weekends/holidaysCalling all Welders! Can you prepare steel materials for welding by cleaning, cutting, grinding, and fitting metal pieces to ensure proper alignment and fit-up prior to welding? If yes, QPS has the job for you. This position is in Belton, Missouri. Theyre looking for someone that has MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), or Stick welding to join steel components experience. This company is a small company with room for growth and great wages. Must know your metals.Welder Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Play a vital role in the fabrication and assembly of steel components by using various welding techniques to join metal pieces together

- Interpret engineering drawings, select appropriate welding processes, and ensure the quality and integrity of welded joints according to industry standards and project specifications

- Welding Operations: Perform welding operations using various techniques such as MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), or Stick welding to join steel components together according to engineering drawings and project requirements

- Material Preparation: Prepare steel materials for welding by cleaning, cutting, grinding, and fitting metal pieces to ensure proper alignment and fit-up prior to welding

- Welding Setup: Set up welding equipment, including selecting appropriate welding parameters, gas flow rates, and electrode types based on material thickness, joint configuration, and welding process requirements

- Quality Control: Inspect welded joints for defects, such as cracks, porosity, or incomplete penetration, using visual inspection methods and non-destructive testing techniques to ensure weld quality and integrity

- Welding Techniques: Employ proper welding techniques, including maintaining proper arc length, travel speed, and electrode manipulation, to achieve strong, durable welds with minimal distortion and heat-affected zone

- Safety Compliance: Always adhere to safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), ventilation, and welding fume extraction systems to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment

- Documentation: Maintain accurate welding records, including welding procedure specifications (WPS), welder qualification records, and weld inspection reports, to comply with regulatory requirements and project documentation standards

- Material Handling: Handle and move steel materials, welding equipment, and tools safely and efficiently, using material handling equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and hoists as necessary

- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other members of the fabrication team, including fitters, machinists, and supervisors, to coordinate workflow, resolve issues, and meet project deadlines effectivelyWelder Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent education; vocational training or certification in welding or a related field preferred

- Proven experience in steel welding, with proficiency in various welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding

- Knowledge of welding codes and standards, such as AWS (American Welding Society) D1.1 or ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to understand project requirements and welding specifications

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in weld preparation, joint fit-up, and weld quality inspection to meet project quality standards

- Familiarity with welding equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal welding performance and equipment reliability

- Physical stamina and dexterity to handle and maneuver heavy steel materials and welding equipment safely and efficiently

- Effective communication skills and the ability to wor collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

- Work in a noisy, industrial environment with exposure to heat, dust, and welding fumes

- May work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support continuous production operations
