Budget Analyst 2/22/24Full TimeManhattanJob ID: 006888Description:Executive Headquarters (117 West 124th St)$70,000 - $75,000Children’s Aid’s Fiscal department supports the agency in all aspects of financial management including budgeting, restricted and unrestricted revenue, payroll, purchasing, accounting, grants and contract management, treasury, liability management and disbursement functions for a large multiservice organization. Position Summary: The Budget Analyst will work with the agency’s central budget team, reporting to the Budget Director, and assisting in the budgeting function for the organization. The central budget team consists of three members and they collaborate closely with the five divisional budget directors. The Budget Analyst will support several processes in Budget including budget reporting and results, salary allocations, cost center management, and budget analysis. Besides the standard Microsoft Office suite of products, the Budget Analyst will work primarily with Prophix cloud-based budgetary and forecasting platforms, Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains GL and UKG Pro tools to complete their daily work. In addition, they will be promoting strong collaboration in executing activities and communication as well as foster a strengthened customer service effort targeted to both internal and external stakeholders.Essential Duties:

Processes salary allocations to ensure the correct recording of salaries in cost centers in order to maximize revenue collection.

Maintains aspects of cost center management and monitors changes in UKG Pro (CA’s cloud-based HRIS timekeeping and compensation cost allocation system).

Analyze reports coming from the general ledger and the budgetary/forecasting systems and verifying information is lining up properly by several categories.

Further investigate any variances in financial information or reviews for root cause of variance which may require corrections or changes in processes.

Assist in the creation of new cost centers.

Responds to requests for general information on budgets from CA various divisions and departments.

Collaborate with division budget directors on their activities and forecasts.

In-person collaboration is an essential function of the job.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree required or commensurate experience with 2 years of experience in budgeting, accounting, finance, or related field.

Introductory budget experience in an institution-wide financial process is preferred.

Key Competencies:

Excellent analytical skills: being able to review allocation and budgets for trends and analysis.

Experience with the Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains accounting system is preferred or similar mid-market GL systems.

Experience with Prophix budget, forecast and reporting system preferred. Equivalent SaaS financial reporting platforms are also valid.

Established proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Power Point), with specific knowledge of pivot tables, v-look ups, and complex formulas.

Ability to multi-task and respond to various audiences utilizing strong customer service skills.

Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and systems including non-profit fund accounting.

Keen attention to detail, with an ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.

Proven ability to exercise sound, independent judgment, and discretion.
