Substation Project EngineerLocation: Overland ParkState/Territory: KansasDepartment: Power Delivery Small Utility Services IV DeptDescriptionSubstation Project Engineer (Small Utility Services)POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking a Substation Project Engineer in Saint Louis, Missouri or Overland Park, KS. Our team believes in serving our clients in all their power delivery needs with honesty and integrity. We are looking for a candidate to be responsible for leading and managing substation design projects for electric cooperative and municipal clients who shares our passion for serving our local public power utilities. The candidate would join a department which provides substation, transmission, distribution, and studies support as well, which provides the opportunity for the candidate to learn to lead and manage projects in additional disciplines of utility design – we will train you as needed! The candidate will function as a client champion in developing, maintaining, and improving client relationships.Roles and Responsibilities
Help build relationships with clients and lead much of the project work we win as a seller-doer
Lead substation project work and mentor, train, and/or supervise the efforts of less-experienced engineers and designers
Demonstrate a willingness to learn other design disciplines beyond substations
Develop project work scope documents, budgets, and schedules
Lead client project calls
Communicate effectively with clients, managers, staff and other departments to ensure project deliverables meet project requirements/scope/schedule
Respond to client questions over a range of technical topics and manage client expectations where appropriate
Candidates should demonstrate the following:

Strong written and oral communication skills in order to communicate professionally with internal team members and clients
Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites or conferences
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology
Five (5) + years of experience in substation design
A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Desired Education/Experience
Two (2) + years of experience leading engineering project teams
Registered Professional Engineer
Experience with preparing project work scope documents, schedules, budgets, and sequence of work for construction of projects
Experience performing substation, transmission and/or distribution design for electric cooperatives
