INSTRUCTOR: ELECTRICAL POWER TECHNOLOGY –Pratt, KSRESPONSIBILITIES:Essential Functions–Teach Electrical Power Technology classes and labs in Pratt, KS; ensure proper safety procedures are followedFollow the course schedule which may vary by semester. Assist in selecting textbooks, develop, plan, revise, and update curricula; implement appropriate instructional activities and supplemental resources to support student learningAssess and evaluate student performance through ongoing grading, feedback, and formal evaluation methods; enter grades and assessment data as required. Recruit prospective students and actively support the retention and persistence of currently enrolled studentsAdvise current and prospective students in appropriate curricula and career pathways in the electrical power industryProvide adequate laboratory supervision whenever students are working; maintain lab equipment and make necessary repairs; maintain an equipment inventory; keep the shop in a clean and professional working appearanceBuild and maintain relationships with local employers, utilities, and contractors to support student apprenticeships and job placement pipelinesProvide career guidance to students, including job search support and industry expectationsPromote Pratt Community College and the EPT program through social media and community outreach efforts in faculty development activities at the college and within state and regional organizationsMaintain records and files as requested by the department and/or Vice President of InstructionAttend faculty, department, advisory, and all-employee meetingsArrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the positionComply with Pratt Community College policies, procedures, and practicesSecondary Functions-Work closely with faculty within the Electrical Power Technology departmentWork closely with personnel in admissions and student servicesWork closely with high schools in our service areaWork cooperatively with business and industry representatives to provide advanced level training QUALIFICATIONS:CDL requiredJourneyman certification requiredAssociate or higher degree preferredMinimum of 2 years continuous work experience (4000 clock hours) in an electrical power technology position requiredMust possess working knowledge of OSHA and NESC rules and regulations, standard work practices, and underground distribution knowledge unique to electrical power utilitiesFull-time work experience in electrical power in the construction, operation and maintenance of structures, equipment, and facilities preferredAbility and interest in teachingThree years teaching experience preferredAbility to work cooperatively with college and high school instructorsAbility and willingness to teach via alternative delivery systems including online and/or other distance education modesAbility to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, faculty, and other Pratt Community CollegeAbility to plan, revise, and update curriculaAbility to communicate effectivelyAbility to maintain confidentiality in a student-centered environmentPhysical requirements include strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills; the ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminalThe ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position and its responsibilities is essentialThe qualifications listed are guidelines for selection purposes; alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties.WORK CONDITIONS:Classroom and outdoor EPT lab environments.  Occasional travel within service area and EPT locations; other travel as needed.SALARY and STATUS:The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by the Master Agreement Salary Schedule.  This full-time faculty position is 9-months annual, due process rights eligible, benefit eligible, and exempt. APPLICATION:For full consideration, apply online at https://prattcc.edu/find-jobs/ send completed PCC employment application, resume, and copies of transcripts to Director of Human Resources, Pratt Community College, 348 NE S.R. 61, Pratt, KS 67124. 620-450-2139.
