Position Status:Half-Time or Minimum-Time
Reports To:Site Director or Director of Operations
Primary Function:
The AmeriCorps Member supports programs in the priority areas of Education and Youth Development and Mentoring. The AmeriCorps Member will provide Club youth with academic support activities to enable improved educational outcomes. The Member will also conduct social-emotional learning, character building and mentoring activities to empower positive relationships and leadership development.
A Half-Time Member serves a minimum of 900 hours during their term. A Minimum-Time Member serves a minimum of 300 hours during their term. The Member must meet or exceed hours to receive an education award. The living allowance is divided into monthly stipends.
Living Allowance (Gross):
●Minimum-time- up to $4,350 per term
●Half-time- up to $13,050 per term
Education Award:
●Minimum-time- $1,565.08
●Half-time- $3,697.50
Key Roles:
Prepare Youth for Success
1.Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
Promote and stimulate program participation;
Participate in new member orientation process making them feel welcome and comfortable at the Club; and
Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
Program Implementation
2.Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for all members
3.Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, program quality and appearance of the Club at all times
Supervision
4.Be on time and ready to make a difference in a child’s life
5.Position yourself to maintain order and control in program areas at all times
6.Ensure a productive environment by participating in assigned meetings and trainings
Additional Responsibilities:
7.May participate in special programs and/or events
8.May be required to drive Club van
Relationships:
Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
Qualifications:
Experience working with children
Knowledge of youth development
Ability to motivate youth and effectively manage behavior problems
Ability to deal with the general public
Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
Other Requirements:
Must be 17 years of age or older
Valid State Driver’s License preferred
Acceptable background check (parent/guardian consent to authorize background check if under 18)
Successful completion of training requirements
CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing this position's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, sitting, crouching, and/or crawling; significant finger dexterity. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, in a generally hazard-free environment and in varying atmospheric conditions.
