Case Manager

Under the supervision of the Social Services/Employment Placement Coordinator, the Residential Reentry Center (RRC) Case Manager shall be responsible for the programs and services provided to the federal offenders. The RRC Case Manager shall operate in an ethical, professional manner, interact with others in such a fashion as to create and maintain respect for the agency and the United States Government, Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons. The incumbent shall be intimately familiar with the Statement of Work and the contractual provisions set forth in the agreement with BOP. They shall also act in accordance with the policies determined by the Board of Directors and shall abide by all applicable federal, state and local regulations. The duties of this position include: written and verbal communication with referral sources and other professionals, teamwork with other staff, residents and community partners, referrals to community-based services, resident engagement and interaction, responsivity to resident, agency and funder needs and security and accountability measures.Duties and Responsibilities:

Communication: Maintain communication in both written and verbal forums within Mirror and with referral agencies, community partners, other professionals. Ensure the written and verbal communications are accurate and include proof-reading and grammar checks before they are relayed to others. Relay messages in a manner consistent with PRT and the objectives of the agency.

Teamwork: Works assigned schedule; collaborates with others; engages community partners to foster the growth of residents.

Referrals: Ensures residents are referred for services based on RNR, to include risks identified by USPO, BOP, resident, experience of the CM, and currently accepted risk tools.

Resident engagement and interaction: Provide groups and programs to RRC resident population. Develops, offers, and evaluates effectiveness of groups and programs provided to program residents.

Responsivity: Available for on-call duties, timely completion of terminal reports, IPP, case notes, IR; responds in a timely manner to requests by SS/EPC, BOP, PD, Mirror leadership and RRC residents.

Security and Accountability: Monitors resident itineraries, writes Incident Reports, engages residents in a firm/fair/consistent manner, conducts employment and residence checks and performs other security functions as necessary.

Qualifications

Graduate of a four-year accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a social or behavioral science area of study which might include but not be limited to the following degrees: criminal justice, corrections counseling, social work, sociology, psychology, substance abuse counseling or another closely related field of study is preferred.

Minimum of one-year paid experience providing case management or supervision services to the offender population.

The education and experience qualifications for the position of Case Manager (or similar title) will be a four-year degree in a social, human services, criminal justice or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university. At a minimum, one year of experience must be working in human services, corrections, or community-based services. Work experience may be substituted for academic studies exchanging one year of work experience in a related field for one year of academic education. Total work experience needed in lieu of the combination of education and work experience is five years.

Excellent interpersonal skills required, as well as, an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Capable of maintaining a team spirit. Ability to work cooperatively with others. Attend and contribute to all scheduled meetings associated with the objectives of the agency and program.

Must be adaptable to change and have effective organizational skills.

Must be able to organize and follow through on multiple tasks.

Display consistent, good judgement, and decision-making skills.

Ability to establish and maintain rapport with justice involved, resistive/chemically dependent and/or behavioral health residents.

Knowledge of the criminal mindset and persons with criminogenic risks, needs, and responsivity factors.

Knowledge in the disease of addiction, behavioral health concerns, as well as, criminogenic risks, needs, and responsivity factors, and various modes of intervention designed to address these factors.

Must be able to pass an extensive DOJ, BOP background/security check.

Employees who have been diagnosed with any type of substance use disorder or behavioral addiction/compulsion must have sustained a minimum of two consecutive years of abstinence from all intoxicating substances and symptoms of their chemical and/or behavioral addiction; and must be in full sustained remission.

Must be proficient in computer skills or experience or skills with an Electronic Data Management system.

On a rotating basis must be available for “on-call” duties.

This position may also involve bending, walking stairs and lifting up to 40 pounds on occasion.

Perform other job duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.
