The Opportunity
DIESEL MECHANICS
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible of performing diagnosis and preventive maintenance services as well as inspect, diagnose, and repair on a variety of heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment. This role supports all aspects of the mechanical repair and maintenance of vehicles, machines, equipment, and facilities.
Location: Topeka, KS
Starting pay: $30-$35 per hour depending on experience
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Perform repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services
Perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment
Work under limited supervision and select from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks
Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Company / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs
Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns
Conduct annual safety checks on vehicles
Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
Assist other mechanics in the completion of project work
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports

Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
Active applicable certificates, licenses, or registrations are a plus
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be at least 18 years of age
Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
Able to pass pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check
Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday
Required to exert physical effort in handling heavy objects throughout the workday
Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.)
Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often
