Job Description

General Description and Purpose

Responsible for the administration of the Allied Health department.

Primary Functions/Responsibilities

  1. Implement the rules and regulations of the Kansas State Board of Nursing, the Kansas Board of Regents, the Kansas Department of Aging & Disability Services and the Kansas Department of Education.
  2. Ensure that Allied Health course curricula follow the current standard guidelines.
  3. Actively recruit students to meet program enrollment goals.
  4. Work closely with the eLearning Center Manager to coordinate and promote Allied Health courses and programs in the Wichita area.
  5. Make maximum use of eLearning Center. Assist the Manager, eLearning Center Wichita in coordination of the Urban League of Kansas, and other partnerships that may develop to deliver the Health Occupations Technology (HOT) program.
  6. Actively recruit and hire instructors and staff to fulfill Allied Health program needs.
  7. Prepare all Allied Health instructor contracts and employment agreement forms prior to the beginning of course.
  8. Orient, train, and mentor new instructors and staff.
  9. Evaluate Allied Health instructors and staff.
  10. Counsel students as necessary.
  11. Regularly apprize the Vice President of Instruction of the program’s status and communicate immediately all emergent issues.
  12. Ensure that all on-line and on-campus course curriculum and syllabi are consistent and meet current regulations.
  13. Recommend an Allied Health annual budget and five year equipment list to the Vice President of Instruction by March 15 each year.
  14. Maintain competency and currency in allied health and administration by attending workshops, seminars, meetings, and courses as approved.
  15. Approve or deny expenditure and travel requests of Allied Health employees.
  16. Develop a schedule of Allied Health courses/programs for each session prior to enrollment days.
  17. Approve or deny Allied Health staff leave requests.
  18. Ensure Allied Health instructors and staff comply with policies and procedures.
  19. Help ensure course rosters are accurate and submitted to the registrar as required.
  20. Help ensure that the Allied Health staff is appropriately represented at college scheduled events and activities.
  21. Prepare Allied Health Assessment of learning outcomes and submit to FALC as required.
  22. Ensure an accurate inventory of all Allied Health equipment, to be completed in May each year.
  23. Attend KDADS and other meetings as approved by the Vice President of Instruction.
  24. Work with promotions staff to develop the Allied Health marketing plan.
  25. Ensure current contracts are in place for each clinical facility and that the facility is clear (no ban) with KDADS, prior to scheduling students.
  26. Conduct at least one Allied Health advisory board meeting per semester.
  27. Other duties as assigned.

Coordination and Accountability Tasks

Consult with the nursing directors, nursing clinical coordinator, clinical liaisons, area healthcare personnel and administrators, and other PCC staff.

Supervises the Following Staff

Allied Health clerical staff and adjunct instructors.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and other Characteristics

  1. Previous supervisory experience required.
  2. Long-term care experience preferred.
  3. Strong organization and communication skills.
  4. Ability to comply with state and institutional requirements.
  5. Ability and skills to partner with other organizations.

Experience

Computer skills (Word, Excel), excellent collaborative and communication and leadership skills required. Knowledge of current on-line instruction methodology/technology, and current Allied Health practice trends a plus.

Education

Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Kansas RN licensure preferred.

Certifications and/or Licensure

KS RN licensure
