This is a temporary position at the Sedgwick County Health Department that supports COVID-19 response. The Administrative Specialist provides direct executive administrative support of the Administrator / Health Department Director, including coordinating cross-divisional and cross-response structure assignments, coordinating meetings, and preparing correspondence request responses.
The Specialist will write and review COVID-19-related documents and presentations, including procedures and COVID-19 response activity documentation.
Provide direct executive administrative support for Incident Commander / Deputy Health Director
Keep Administrator / Health Department Director calendar current, communicating changes as they occur
Coordinate COVID-19 response directives of the Administrator / Health Department Director with the Incident Commander / Deputy Health Director.
Ensure request is completed.
Screen and prepare response to internal / external correspondence requests.
Provide effective and accurate written communication
Create, review, and format presentations and documents, including COVID-19 procedures and policies
Document COVID-19 response activities of the Incident Commander and Agency Administrator using standard Incident Command System (ICS) forms.
Ensure documents are submitted to Planning Section for tracking.
Research COVID-19-related topics and provide situational awareness
Daily, research and attend webinars to stay up to date with COVID-19 information and guidance changes from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Prepare daily SCHD COVID-19 activities report and distribute
As requested, research COVID-19 topics and prepare reports for Incident Commander and Agency Administrator / Health Director.
Minimum Qualifications : A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Management, Business Administration, or related field with skills and experience appropriate for the position.
One year experience in written business communications, including editing of documents. One year of experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and computer skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications : Two years of work experience in writing and editing business documents. One year of work experience writing procedures and policies.
One year of work experience in a public health department or healthcare setting. Three years of work experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
