Description of Operation:
This is a cow/calf operation located in the Flint Hills in Butler County, Kansas. It is a full-time, year-round position. Duties also include: starting and grazing light weight cattle during the grazing season.
Position: Ranch Manager with experience
Qualifications/Responsibilities:
Grass:
Manage the grass in a sustainable way, take some – leave some.
Burn the pastures on a regular basis.
Noxious weeds are wicked, sprayed, or burned.
Trees are cut and treated or sprayed.
Animals:
In charge of day-to-day care, vaccinations, genetic selections, culling, selecting replacement heifers.
Hire any outside help to work cattle.
Marketing of animals with owner input.
Maximize pounds weaned / pounds of cow.
Maximize percentage of cows bred.
Reduce size of cows.
Fences:
To be kept in good shape.
Repair and maintain as needed.
Replace fencing that is beyond repair.
Equipment:
Maintain the equipment in good condition and make minor repairs, including, but not limited to, vehicles, machinery, windmills, and buildings.
Other:
Be a good representative for the ranch in the community.
Communicate regularly regarding condition of animals, equipment and grass.
Maintain records necessary for herd and financial performance purposes.
It is a full-time, year-round position.
